Nina Larsen of Volvo Cars proudly declares Volvo to be the safest car company in the world.

We don't want to get sued over superlatives, so we'll just say it's definitely one of the safest in the world, for sure. We certainly can't think of anything safer.

In 2017, Sweden will be accepting 100 self-driving Volvo cars on their roads in the city of Gothenburg. Volvo has accomplished this by working closely with the government of Gothenburg, to ensure the city is ready for a fleet of autonomous vehicles, and has the laws needed to regulate their use.

The first priority of any car is the safety of the driver and passengers, right?

Volvo's safety features are designed to protect those around you, as much as yourself. Multiple sensors can detect objects ahead of the vehicle, particularly cyclists and pedestrians. In 1964, Volvo crash-tested the world's first rear-facing child safety seat prototype. What they and numerous studies since then have shown is shocking. Children in rear-facing seats have a much lower rate of injury than those facing forward.

In fact, the American Academy of Pediatrics as well as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration both recommend that children remain in rear-facing seats until they outgrow them.
