Trim Styles

Drivers of all ages and backgrounds flock to the new Volvo SUV lineup, from the compact XC40, the midsized XC60, to the full-size XC90. There are three available styles for each model: The Momentum is the base trim, loaded with plenty of standard-equipped features, while the Inscription trim focuses on luxury, and the R-Design is the athletic and sporty trim.

Design

The compact five-passenger Volvo XC40 SUV comes equipped with an all-wheel driveline and receives power from a turbocharged engine. The Recharge pure electric model has a brake-regenerating battery that allows for a 223-mile range and a rapid charge to 90-percent in under 45-minutes. The XC40 may be the smaller SUV, but its design is dramatic, turning heads on the highway and around Irvine. This midsize, five-passenger XC60 nestles right in the middle of the lineup, between the XC40 and XC90. The exemplary midsize luxury SUV in the segment provides active drivers incomparable comfort in a spacious cabin and 63.3 cubic feet of cargo storage. As the largest of the three, the full-size XC90 has three rows of seats for seven passengers and can be configured with second-row captain's chairs to create more space for six people and a whopping 85.7 cubic feet cargo area.

Performance

The XC40 receives power from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 187 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. An available all-wheel drive makes driving easier with increased grip in inclement weather conditions. The XC60 base engine delivers more horsepower than the XC40, while the T8 Twin Engine Plug-In Hybrid powertrain adds 152 horsepower under the hood. The XC40 and XC60 models both have a maximum tow rating of 3,500. The XC90 comes standard with the same 2.0-liter inline-four Supercharged and Turbocharged inline-four engine as the XC40 and XC60, or a Supercharged and Turbocharged 2.0-liter with 316 horsepower model. The Recharge Plug-In Hybrid powertrain has 400 horsepower and can tow 5,000 pounds. The XC90 has an optional active chassis with an air suspension with five settings, improving comfort and handling on rugged terrain.

Interior

Although the XC40 is the smallest in the lineup, you'll get 57.5 cubic feet of cargo space. The interior surrounds you with plenty of individual storage compartments and pockets, the latest technology, and unique styling. The attention to detail and elegant accents combine with a range of color options for you to compliment your personality. In the XC40 and XC60, the driver and front passenger get power-adjustable heated seats for customized rides in maximum comfort. The luxurious XC60 offers a roomy interior with posh materials and accents. Front-seat passengers have extra head and legroom, and an available hands-free tailgate lets you open the cargo door without searching for a key.

Technology

All three models in the new Volvo SUV lineup include an infotainment system that offers an intuitive touchscreen interface drivers can operate from the steering wheel or using voice controls. Passengers will enjoy scenic views and fresh air through the panoramic sunroof while their favorite tunes stream from their smartphones through an available 13-speaker, upgraded Harman Kardon sound system.

Like the XC40 and XC60, the XC90 includes Bluetooth connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Still, instead of an 8-10-speaker system, the XC90 has an optional 19-speaker Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system that makes your favorite music sound like live performances. Automatic climate control is available with all models, but in the XC90, there's an advanced four-zone climate system. A 12.3-inch digital driver display delivers comprehensive entertainment and performance info in the XC90. A navigation system is standard in the XC90 and available in an options package with the XC40 and SC60.

Safety

Standard Volvo Safety technologies offered on all models in the lineup include:

  • Rear-cross traffic alert
  • Blind-spot assist
  • Front parking sensors

Available packages for the XC40, XC60, and XC90 include more advanced components like a 360-degree camera, a head-up display, and a high-tech air ionizer filtration system.
